To exclude a certain term from your search results, add

  -term

to your query.

Explanation

Basically, a standard query is performed but if there is an occurrence of term on the page it won’t be listed in the results.

You can exclude several words using this method as well.

Example

  fight club -movie -chuck

This query will return sites that include “Fight Club” but it won’t return any sites including the words “movie” or “Chuck”. So you will get results mostly about martial arts, unrelated to the novel or movie for the most part.
