Taking Life Too Seriously

Sometimes I’m plagued by seriousness as well. But there are few reasons why you should be serious. Very few. I’ll tell you why.

Life itself ain’t serious. See, life’s a joke: You are born, do some unimportant stuff and then you die. Haha! Funny, heh? Yeah, I almost laughed myself to death. Oops, I did it again. I joked about death. Shame on me.

No seriously, all things are neutral by nature. Naturally, there are neither funny nor sad things. And it sucks that most people go through life with an earnestness as if they were part of a huge funeral. Take it easy. Don’t forget to live.

I mean what is it that changes if you decide to take it all with some humor? You won’t be less productive or successful. A smile on your face doesn’t prevent you from working. You will just have more fun.

But fun sounds kinda dangerous, right? And why is that? Because our society tells us so. Fun is usually associated with sin. Well, then it gotta be a sin to live! Maybe we should entomb ourselves one another, this would be alright I suppose. As long as we did it in a serious manner. Oh wait, I’m just joking about death again! I shouldn’t do that. Because society tells me not to do it.

The shocking truth is: Death doesn’t get worse if you tell jokes about it. And life doesn’t get worse if you smile at it.

And that’s why all those moaners really get on my nerves. Get a life and smile! Even if it seems to be dangerous.

Starting to Code My First WordPress Plugin

I love quotes. And that’s why I just started to code my own wordpress plugin. You might think: “What the fuck? There’s absolutely no relation between these two sentences!”

Yeah, it might seem so at the first glance, but in fact, there is a relation: It’s because I love quotes that I want to have a decent quotes section on my other blog. But I didn’t find any plugin that completely satisfied my needs, so I decided to program my own. With a lot of great functions and bugs. Hopefully not that many bugs though.

Plus, I want to learn how to code wordpress plugins ’cause I’ll learn something about wordpress at the same time, so I’ll be able to customize my blog easily.

The progress of my programming attempt will be posted on this blog, as well as the things I’ll learn during programming.

I also plan to write a big article about wordpress plugin coding that should cover all the basic steps of writing your own plugin.

Just in case you want to try programming wordpress plugins yourself, that’s where I started: Writing a Plugin. And now the journey begins…

Thinking Got Out Of Fashion

Most people don’t want to think themselves anymore. Take the average guy, his life is made up of earning money, having sex, consuming alcohol and… Well, that pretty much was it. Needless to say, that this lifestyle is no effective way to increase one’s intelligence.

I mean, I wouldn’t really care about that, people may live the life they choose to live but avoiding to use one’s brain at all cost has some serious consequences:

  • Internet scam: Take e-mail scam for example. It’s fucking annoying to get daily messages from “paypal” stating that I need to change my password immediately. Haha, yeah! I’d have to do that after following the link in the mail and giving away my account information! I get those mails so often it’s not even funny anymore. Even though I never was stupid enough to tell them my user details. And all that e-mail scam is just because some people are actually tricked by that crap. I wouldn’t have to delete all those mails if those people questioned the reliability of those mails.
  • Popular trash: If people don’t want to think, then stupid websites and other stupid things become popular and intelligent stuff is ignored. This would be bad for those few remaining thinkers as they would soon end up in isolation. *Snivel* Fortunately there are still some popular quality websites around but the web crap is getting more and more.
  • Stupid myths: Myths spread like a wildfire. It’s because people are amazed by those “facts” and retell them without rethinking them. No matter how unrealistic those so called facts are, there are always loads of people around who believe them. I’d actually find that funny if it wouldn’t lead to a lot of misinformation.

Stupid people are the root of a lot of evil. And evil sucks. So use your brain! Please!

About Loud Music and Thin Walls

You know what bugs me? Loud music and thin walls. It’s the combination of both that really gets on my nerves.

You know, I’m a student, living in a small appartment and sometimes I want to take a nap. But what might happen is this: As soon as I get comfortable, some creepy noise is creeping through the walls and starts playing tricks on me. It suggests me not to sleep.

And then I start to get mad, turning around in my bed and thinking: “Goddamnit! Why the hell did that crap start rushing through the walls at this precise time?! I want to sleeeep!”

This goes on for about 15 minutes. I get some sleep during the next 15 minutes. Then this dirty swine of an alarm clock recommends me to stand up… And so I do. Pissed.

Because of loud music and thin walls.

But that’s not the only point. Sometimes I want to chill. So I take a seat in front of my laptop and relax. It’s when I’m just completely relaxed, enjoying my time that something horrible happens: Some bad piece of music knocks at my wall.

I say: “Stay the hell out!” But it justs comes in! Annoying me. It would be no problem if it was some decent composition but unfortunately, it’s more like an acoustic attack.

So I’m attacked. Defenseless. Not able to relax anymore. Wanting to run away from this place.

This wouldn’t have happened if the walls were thicker or the music wasn’t that loud. Unfortunately, things are like they are.

And that’s why the combination of loud music and thin walls really bugs me.

My Favorite Firefox Add-Ons

I browse the internet a lot. Mozilla Firefox is my favorite browser to do just that, so I decided to create this little list of my favorite Firefox add-ons.

  • Download Statusbar allows you to view the progress of your downloads without having to display the download window. I download a lot, so I find this pretty useful.
  • FireFTP is a nice FTP client for firefox. Easy to use, secure and free.
  • SeoQuake SEO is very helpful for webmasters who are concerned with optimizing their websites for search engines. It includes different tools a SEO bar which displays Google pagerank, Alexa rank, Delicious index etc.
  • Adblock Plus blocks ads. Yeah, I know that I display ads myself so it might be stupid to tell you about this add-on, but it’s definitely one of my favorites.
  • NoScript gives you the opportunity to decide which sites are allowed to execute scripts. Very useful to protect your computer against evil websites.
