I just started to organize my bookmarks and oh my gosh! There are too many of them! I didn’t count them but the estimated total number is way over a hundred.
Damn, know I got some work to do. That’s the time when I ask myself: “Why the fuck did you bookmark all these sites? You can’t read them all anyway!”
But there’s just too much interesting information on the net. I couldn’t resist placing all those sites in this nice (once) little (now big) list at the top of my browser window.
You know, somehow bookmarking feels like controlling, like owning those sites. At first the site means nothing to you. But once you bookmarked it you got a connection to it. It’s like you just bought a piece of the website.
And sooner or later you might find yourself in a huge jungle of ‘bought’ websites. Unable to visit them all. At least that’s what happened to me. I’m in the jungle now. Like an internet bushman. Hunting pages. Eating information. Hopefully I won’t be eaten by any of those savage scammers. Those nasty little creatures. Uh!
Enough said, I really need to finish organizing my bookmarks now…
I, too, have a problem with bookmarking too many websites. I guess it started several months to a year ago when I wanted to see if others had the same “different” interests/thoughts that I had, and if one “rare” thing ever came up, I’d bookmark it so I wouldn’t lose it (sometimes, I’ve found that I can’t find some sites again because they either don’t appear in the search engines well or I can’t remember how I got to the page). Now, it’s gotten to the point that I’ll bookmark anything of even remote interest to me (even if its not that unique to me and even if I’ve got a million others like it) and also like to bookmark stories about people that seem interesting and whatnot. Yeah, for sure, I consider myself to be obsessed, and I’ve probably got hundreds (if not a thousand or so by now) of bookmarks. It’s crazy. I really need to slow down.
